The Association of African American Museums presents awards to outstanding professionals and volunteers who have served the museum field in extraordinary ways.  The awards are presented in several categories, including:

Dr. John E. Fleming Award
The Dr. John E. Fleming Award recognizes a museum professional who has provided significant contributions to African American museums during his or her career.

Volunteer Service
The Volunteer Service Award is bestowed on an outstanding volunteer who has made significant contributions of time and skill on behalf of the AAAM Annual Conference.

Museum Service
The Museum Service Award recognizes the exceptional contributions of talent and time made by a museum staff member on behalf of the AAAM Annual Conference.

The award is presented during the annual meeting and is a high point of the conference proceedings.
