Executive Director - Amistad Research Center, New Orleans, LA (posted 4/17/2014)

The Amistad Research Center (ARC) seeks a creative, dynamic, entrepreneurial executive director to provide strategic direction and overall leadership. The new director will engage the next generation of patrons, increase private philanthropy, and expand the organization’s impact in the archival community and beyond. The executive director, with a background in public humanities, will effectively maintain Amistad’s leadership in preserving and presenting African American History. S/he will envision innovative approaches to the expansion of data access and continue to incorporate new technology that enhances the Center’s progress. Knowledge and experience of trends in archiving scholarly material, and an understanding of professional policies governing archives is considered advantageous.
