 It is my privilege to welcome you to the website of the Association of African American Museums. The existence of this website is a testament to the strength and vitality of our organization. I am indebted to all who have served the Association in past years and I confidently look forward to our future. One of the most significant keys to the continued success of the Association is an active and growing membership roster. If you are a current member, please renew when we contact you. If you are not a member, I encourage you to join and take an active role in the Association’s work. Our board of directors has charted for us a course toward increased opportunities for professional development not only at our annual conferences but throughout the upcoming year. Our roundtables provide each member an excellent opportunity to meet and share with those doing similar work across the country. Those new to the profession will find experienced curators, registrars, directors and professionals across the spectrum of museum work willing to share their knowledge and experience. Those who, like me, have been around for many years will find new and fresh approaches to solving the problems we face.
